Installing a Sunfish Gudgeon with an Aluminum Backing Plate

#10-32 stainless screws (1.75" long)

Mark Holes
Drill
Tap the Plate
Remove the plate.
Using the #10-32 tap, turn it slowly into each hole to cut threads.
Use a drop of oil, and back the tap out every few turns to clear chips.
This step is needed because your screws are flat-tipped and need threads to hold, no nuts are used.
Seal
Install
Put the plate back inside the hull so holes line up.
Place a lock washer under each screw head.
Tighten screws into the tapped plate until snug. Do not overtighten.
Finish
